Morrone 9/11 Center
The Morrone Educational Program was agreed to at the New York and New Jersey Port Authority Memorial with his family's consent and input from the New York and New Jersey Port Police at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City on September 11, 2002, and established by the Board of the International Organization of Airport and Seaport Police [INTERPORTPOLICE].
In 2016, the Morrone 9/11 Center was established as a stand-alone charitable 501c3 nonprofit organization as an official memorial to Fred V. Morrone and the 36 officers who perished in the World Trade Towers. Our PAPD officers were among the many, including NYPD and FDNY first responders, who gave their lives assisting others.
Morrone was the most senior public official and police officer to perish in the Towers on September 11, 2001. He was our friend, our colleague, and our leader. At the time of his death, he was the Executive Vice President and incoming Board President of the INTERPORTPOLICE.
We remember Fred as an innovator and forward-thinking person focused on policing and public safety. He also knew the importance of collaboration within the United States and with countries and agencies worldwide.
We continue his vision to make mass people environments and the world a safer place.
